Delete your PaperTotal account
PaperTotal is operated by Kimeur Labs, LLC.
You can delete your account yourself in the PaperTotal web app. If you cannot sign in, you can ask us to do it by email.
How to delete your account
- Export what you want to keep. Reading and exporting work whatever your plan status, and an export cannot be run after your account closes.
- Hand on any team you run. We cannot close an account while it is the last owner of a team workspace with other active members. Transfer the workspace to a member, or close it, under Settings, Workspace.
- Cancel any store subscription. The iOS and Android apps are not out yet, so this applies once they are: deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, and we cannot cancel it for you. Cancel it in your store account.
- Open Settings, Profile and choose Delete my account. Type your email address to confirm.
Your account closes straight away, you are signed out on every device, and we confirm by email. A plan you pay for on the web is not charged again.
If you cannot sign in
Email privacy@papertotal.com from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. Sending from that address confirms the request is yours. We close your account the same way, with the same limit: if you are the last owner of a team with other active members, tell us, and we will work out with you how to hand it on first.
What is deleted
Your account closes first, and the data follows after 14 days. Within 30 days of your account closing, we delete:
- your profile and sign-in identity, including your email addresses, phone number, photo and preferences;
- your personal workspace, with its documents, images, expenses, reports and mileage;
- any team workspace you own with no other active members, in the same way;
- forwarded emails you sent us, wherever they were filed;
- your forwarding address, devices and notification settings;
- your bank details for reimbursements and your vehicles, in every workspace you belong to.
If other people use your personal workspace, it closes with your account and they are told by email. To keep it going, transfer it to one of them first: it then becomes a team workspace.
What is kept
- Billing records, such as invoices and payment history, stay with Stripe, Apple or Google for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Records in a team workspace belong to that workspace and stay with it, because its owner may need them for its own books. Your name can remain on expenses and approvals you made there, and its audit log still shows what you did. If nothing of yours is left on a team, your name becomes “Former member”.
- An empty account record stays so that a team’s records still add up. It holds none of your email addresses and no way to sign in, and it keeps your name only in the case above.
- Server logs and error reports can hold record ids. We do not rewrite them. They age out on the schedules of the companies that hold them, listed in the privacy policy.
What happens in your teams
You leave every workspace that carries on without you as soon as your account closes. API keys you created stop working, webhooks you set up are turned off, reports you scheduled stop, and scheduled reports stop being mailed to you. A report waiting for your approval moves to the workspace owner, or to another approver if the report is the owner’s own, so it is not left waiting. Reports and comments you made stay.
Closing a team workspace
An owner can close a team workspace under Settings, Workspace, by typing its name. Nobody can open it from then on, and every member is told by email. After 14 days its records and files are deleted for every member, so give people time to export first. A download link that was already sent keeps working until it expires, up to 7 days after it was sent. A plan paid for on the web is not charged again, and a store subscription has to be cancelled in the store.
If you change your mind
For 14 days after an account or a workspace closes, write to support@papertotal.com and we can bring it back, with everything that closed with it. API keys stay revoked, a webhook stays off until an owner turns it back on, a report that moved to someone else stays with them, and a plan set to end stays set to end until you resume it. After 14 days it can no longer be brought back.
