Terms of service
PaperTotal is operated by Kimeur Labs, LLC.
These terms are an agreement between you and Kimeur Labs, LLC, 4848 Lemmon Ave STE 420, Dallas, TX 75219 (“we”). They cover papertotal.com, the PaperTotal apps and the PaperTotal API (together, “PaperTotal”). By using PaperTotal you accept them. If you use PaperTotal for an organization, you accept them for that organization and confirm you have the authority to do so.
Accounts and workspaces
You must be at least 18 to use PaperTotal. Keep your sign-in details and API keys secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used them. Your first verified sign-in creates your account and a personal workspace. A workspace owner decides who can join it and what they can do, and you are responsible for what happens in the workspaces you own.
Trial
Each person gets one 30-day Pro trial with no card, from their first sign-in. Any other workspace you own shares what is left of it, and a workspace created after it has ended starts with no plan. Joining someone else's workspace neither uses a trial nor gives one. When the trial ends, your workspace is treated as a lapsed plan until you choose one.
Plans and billing
- Plans, limits and prices are on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and do not include tax, which is added where it applies.
- Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Canceling stops the next renewal, and your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
- Limits apply per calendar month. When a limit is reached, new documents are refused until the next month or until you move to a larger plan. There are no overage charges.
- If we change a price, we will tell you before it applies to your next renewal.
- Payments on the web go through Stripe. The iOS and Android apps are not out yet, so nothing can be bought through the App Store or Google Play today. Once they are, their terms apply to those payments, and you manage and cancel those subscriptions with them.
- Refunds are covered by the refund policy.
When a plan lapses
Capturing new documents and editing records stop until you choose a plan. Reading and exporting your records continue.
Your data
What you put into PaperTotal stays yours. You give us permission to host, copy, process and display it only as needed to provide PaperTotal to you and to meet our legal obligations, including through the companies named in the privacy policy. You confirm that you have the right to send us what you send.
Check what matters
PaperTotal reads documents with software, which can misread them. You are responsible for checking figures before you rely on them, including on tax filings. PaperTotal is not an accountant, a tax adviser or a law firm, and nothing in it is professional advice. PaperTotal is not a bank and does not hold or send your money.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or use PaperTotal to commit or hide fraud;
- send material you have no right to send, or anything malicious;
- upload content that identifies someone’s medical condition, diagnosis or treatment, other than a receipt or invoice you are filing for an expense, unless we have agreed to it in writing;
- upload sexually explicit content;
- access another workspace or try to get around a limit, permission or security measure;
- overload or disrupt PaperTotal, or scrape it other than through the API;
- resell PaperTotal without our written agreement.
API
API keys are secret. Each key works in one workspace. A personal key acts as the person who created it, so it stops working when that person leaves the workspace or closes their account. A workspace key belongs to the workspace: an owner creates it, and it keeps working whoever leaves, until it is revoked or the workspace closes. Anything that has to keep running should use a workspace key. You are responsible for what is done with your keys. The monthly document limit on your plan applies, and we may limit request rates to keep PaperTotal working for everyone.
Other services
If you connect another service, such as your accounting system, your use of it is governed by its own terms, and we are not responsible for it.
Suspension and closing
You can stop using PaperTotal and delete your account at any time. See account deletion. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts PaperTotal or others at risk. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you time to export your records.
If PaperTotal closes
If we ever shut PaperTotal down, we will email every account owner at least 30 days before accounts close, and you can export your records throughout that time. A shorter notice applies only where the law or a provider we depend on leaves us no choice, and then we will give as much as we can.
Warranty
PaperTotal is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that PaperTotal will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that what it reads will be correct.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $100.
Paper you send us by mail travels at your risk until we have logged it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for documents lost, damaged or delayed by a carrier or in the mail, or for delays in sorting and scanning them. Send copies, and keep any original you cannot replace.
Indemnity
You will cover our reasonable losses and costs from a third-party claim that arises from your content or your breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Dallas County, Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights that the law of your home country says cannot be limited.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update this page and tell you by email or in the product before the change takes effect. If you keep using PaperTotal after that, the new terms apply.
