PaperTotal takes JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, HTML, EML and ZIP files, up to 25 MB each.
A file's type comes from its bytes, not its name, so renaming a file does not change how it is treated. Anything else is refused with a message that says why.
- A PDF with a text layer is read directly. Scans and photos go through OCR.
- DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, HTML and EML are read as text.
- A PDF over 25 MB, up to 50 MB, is split into several documents when you add it under Documents.
- A file under 240 bytes, or an image under 100 pixels on its shorter side, has nothing to read and is refused.
